Elizabeth (Liz) Story grew up in Waco, Texas and as the daughter of a surgeon, her father's practice guided her decision to become a physician. She went to college at Wake Forest in North Carolina and earned a degree in Religion and Anthropology and she completed her medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center. Initially she began her training in Radiology after graduating medical school, but realized that she wanted to take care of patients directly and therefore chose to pursue Family Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine training at John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth and worked there after training as a Hospitalist and on clinical faculty before joining with Dr. Bohnsack full time. She enjoys spending time with her precious daughter, Elise, and her Great Dane, Charlie, as well as other foster dogs.

He is in the office two days each week and sees some of his former patients as well as new members. He trained at JPS and practiced here in Fort Worth for almost 40 years; additionally, Dr. Bohnsack was instrumental in the formation of Harris Southwest and has been very connected to the medical community in Fort Worth.

While some of you might have seen my bio on the website, others might not know that I grew up in Waco and my dad is a surgeon. I wanted to follow in his footsteps, getting my undergraduate degree at Wake Forest and earning my medical degree at Texas A&M (go Aggies!). I learned that I loved taking care of patients in a one- on-one setting, so Family Medicine was it for me and it really is my passion.
When I’m not working, I love live music and family time – but first in my life is always my sweetheart little girl, Elise and my Great Dane Charlie... as well as a mix of foster dogs here and there!
One of my heart's passions is the plight of the homeless and underserved in our community. During my training at JPS, I saw firsthand the struggles of those living on the margins, who are almost invisible in our world. The issues of chronic mental health and the cycles of crisis -- instead of blaming the patient, my heart was really opened to seeing their critical need for the very basic of life's necessities.
I have come to see it as an honor to serve the underserved, homeless, imprisoned, and marginalized people in our community -- my daughter is beginning to see how important it is to share what we have, and to think of others who don't have even the very basics. From time to time, I invite my patients to participate in donation drives for necessities for JPS patients.
Always, providing the highest level of care to my patients is my priority. I am honored to be able to care for you and carry on Dr. James Bohnsack's legacy.
