Over the last few decades, the business of healthcare has created an environment where family practice physicians have spent less and less time with patients and more time having to work through the system. On average, a primary care physicians spends only about 15 minutes with patients each visit, often less. And with big insurance running the healthcare system doctors are forced to carry a patient load of nearly 2,000 patients.
With a membership model, or having a concierge doctor/direct primary care, we eliminate the insurance middle-man and are able to take time with each patient and go over everything from acute issues to preventative screenings. There are unlimited appointments and we are easily accessible over the phone and by email. That is the true value of what you get by being a patient; an old-fashioned relationship with one doctor who really knows you. It really is like having your personal doctor on call.
One of the goals that we both strive to achieve is to keep patients healthy and do everything we can to keep them out of the ER and hospital. Sometimes the ER and hospital are necessary, but often times the ER is used when a simple phone call or visit to our office will address the problem.
Membership with Dr. Story and Dr. Bohnsack doctors office is not insurance and is not meant to replace insurance. We feel that insurance is a good thing to have, but routine and preventative care really is best addressed with a direct relationship such that you would get here at our practice.
The fees for membership are discussed in detail in the Medical Services Agreement and can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. For details please call the office and ask April or Courtney for more information! The fees may be paid on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis. The easiest way is to set up an auto-draft of an account, similar to your cable or internet subscription.
